The price of the cake will depend upon the design of the cake. The price is figured out based on the quantity of the cake and the materials used. Aside from this, it will include the cost of decorating the cake. So, if you want to save a few bucks, make sure you opt for a simple design.

It is an art to decorate a cake and you will pay for this art. So, if you find a low-priced cake, know that it may not be well decorated or the cake is made from cheap ingredients. So, if you can compromise on the decoration aspect of the cake, you can get a good cake without spending an arm and a leg.

3. The trick

For a cake that tastes good and is iced well, we suggest that you go to a reputable cake maker. Once you got the cake, you can get a florist decorate it with fresh flowers. It’s a good idea to prefer height over detail. The height of the cake will make it more noticeable.

4. Cake as dessert

You should divide the cost of the cake by the number of guests. This will help you save a lot of money on dessert and you will have a great event.

5. Taste vs Price

It’s not a good idea to compromise on the flavor of the cake for a few bucks. As a matter of fact, tasting cakes depend upon the quality of ingredients. Moreover, cheap cakes are usually made from a cheap pre-mixed in order to cut down on the cost. So, make sure you consider the taste of the cake as well.

Now for something different we add a taste of the old world with delicious pot de creme! In a double boiler melt 2/3 cup dark chocolate.

For the custard we are going to make a simple creme anglaise (pudding).

1 cup heavy cream.

2 teaspoons vanilla extract.

4 egg yolks.

1/3 cup white sugar.

1 tsp powdered espresso coffee.

1. In a small, heavy saucepan, heat cream and vanilla until bubbles form at edges.

2. While cream is heating, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until smooth. Slowly pour 1/2 cup of hot milk mixture into egg yolks, whisking constantly. Gradually add “egg yolk” mixture back to remaining “milk” mixture and whisking constantly. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture coats the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and stir espresso into mixture.

Cotton Candy

1. The modern world has allotted a special day for almost anything perceived as noteworthy to celebrate, and spun sugar treat is no exception. In the United States at least, a National Cotton Candy Day is celebrated every December 7, highlighting the fact that the sweet stuff has already had a hundred years of history into it to attain national significance. And of course, we need not say that cotton candy has from the time of its invention gradually delighted the whole world.

2. Cotton candy bags are huge, as the finished product are also huge. But the fact is that this confection is mostly air and only a little sugar, which accounts for its being lightweight, in fact, lighter than feathers.

3. It was formerly called fairy floss and candy floss until 1920, referring to the tiny sugar strands from which the product is made.

4. It tastes very sweet because the only ingredient it has is sugar, but a serving carries less calories with it compared to a can of soda. It won’t even cause tooth decay when consumed only in moderate amount. Apart from that, it is fat-free treat.

5. While we can enjoy this treat today fresh or pre-packaged, in many flavors, patterns, and colors, it is still the same treat that it was when it was first invented. This is because it is a simple, flawless confection to start with.

6. In Asia, Japanese and Chinese cotton candy vendors have turned the spinning of sugar from a simple industry into a form of art that is both popular and glamorous, and classes about it have emerged in some large cities.

7. The machines that are used today in making this confection is generally the same as those that were used when the first cotton candy machine was invented less than hundred years back. Innovations have been introduced, but the technology used remains the same.

About Triple Orange Cake

The recipe produced a moist, not too sweet cake with an almost custard consistency. Heavenly scented with orange and floral notes it made the house smell incredible. But the best part was that it lived up to its siren song aroma. Intensely oranges with a slight, pleasant bitterness, it seems to bloom in the mouth, leaving behind a glorious lingering flavor of almonds. Rich and dense it is best in small pieces, powdered with a dusting of sugar and garnished with something just a little sour like raspberry coulis or a lively lemon curd.

Was it worth all that trouble? Absolutely. Though next time I might use a larger pan to change the ratio of custard center to chewy crust. Or perhaps, bake it in two round cake pans.

Triple Orange Cake

2 oranges
1 lemon
1 cup all-purpose flour (unbleached)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon orange flower water (optional) [1]
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 Carton Firm Silken Tofu [2]
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 2/3 cups sugar [3]
1.5 cups toasted and finely ground almonds or almond meal
2/3 cup olive oil (I used half-blood orange infused and half regular) [4]
Powdered sugar for dusting on top when cooled
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Grease a 13×9 inch pan or two 8 inch cake pans.

Place oranges and lemon in a saucepan with enough water to cover most of the way. Bring to a boil and cook for half an hour or until the fruit is very tender. Drain and cool.

Seed the citrus fruit and cut into quarters. Place citrus into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Add tofu and process until well blended. Empty into a large bowl and add sugar, vanilla, salt, and orange flower water (if using). Stir to combine.

Sift the flour and baking powder together in a small bowl and combine with the ground almonds. Mix well.

Starting and ending with the flour alternatively add the wet and dry ingredients, stirring just until mixed (add 1/3 of the flour and mix, add 1/3 cup of olive oil and mix, third flour, rest of olive oil, and rest of flour mixture). Do not over mix.

Pour into your baking pan(s) and bake until an inserted toothpick produces only moist crumbs not liquid. For the 13×9 inch pan this will take about 1 hour and 20 minutes [5]. For the 8 inch pans, probably 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Stories About Lollies

When we think about our childhood we can’t help but remember the lovely madness associated with lollies. There were Strawberry Ripple lollies, traffic light lollies, double-dip lollies, Love hearts dip and many more kinds of lollipops. You wouldn’t find one person who wasn’t obsessed and amazed with the many variants of lollies available those days. These retro lollies always manage to bring about a sense of nostalgia to individuals who were obsessed with them when they were little. However, since these retro lollies are easily available in wholesale sweet shops you do not need to live in the nostalgic past. These wholesale shops are even more passionate these days making it easy and convenient for people to indulge in numerous varieties. The fact that newer varieties are even more tempting make these retro lolly shops hugely successful.

Apart from the flavors one is used to in traditional candies, these days manufacturers have introduced better flavors that are absolutely amazing. One would never have thought about enjoying the flavors in a lolly. Finding maple bacon, Bourbon, hot Lemon Ginger in a lolly is not something that you even would have dreamt of. Though these flavors are not all sweet compared to those lollies that were available initially, they are surely worth trying.

That’s not all that is happening with lollies these days. Manufacturers have come up with lollipops that can actually clear tooth decay. These lollipops have a particular ingredient that helps in killing Streptococcus bacteria which generally causes cavities. This lollipop is licorice flavored and so easy to suck on. Another type of lolly incorporated with licorice base helps smokers quit smoking. Licorice is a natural herb that has a property by which they can curb cravings for nicotine. And finally the availability of lollipops that help with weight loss by reducing cravings for foods rich in fat.

About Low Fat Ice Creams

Enjoying an ice-cream in summers is a favourite activity for all. Yesterday I felt like having a chocolate flavour. But then I realised that it is too sweet and thought of having something that is not too high in calories.
I was just searching on the internet about the places serving it which offers healthy ice creams.

It is made by whipping the mixture (a combination of milk, cream, eggs, sweeteners and flavourings) with a lot of air. This makes it light and fluffy.

In general, a regular one contains around 140 calories and six grams of fat per 1/2 cup serving.

I also heard that Gelato, which is becoming very popular these days, is mixed very slowly, limiting the amount of air and giving it a thick and dense texture.

Gelato usually has less fat than regular one. So, I tried gelato also. It was creamy and smooth.

I thought of asking my friends for best places serving sugar-free ice creams. There are many places serving sugar free flavours. Earlier there was not much variety in sugar free but nowadays there’s a lot.

There are plenty of other diet-friendly options like frozen yoghurt, sherbet, slow-churned ice-cream, soft serve and sorbet.

You can also sometimes avoid to have toppings such as chocolate chips, candies and sprinkles which have even the calorie count even higher and don’t offer any nutritional benefits.

The best places in Delhi are Haagen-Dazs, Mother Dairy, Cream Bell, Frugurpop and many more. So, these are some of the places where everyone can visit to eat their choice.

Ice cream is by no means a healthy diet. But sometimes it is a pleasure most people wouldn’t want to give up.

There is lot of craze these days about Natural. It opened its first store in Delhi last year. The ice creams made by this brand are made using fruits, dry fruits, milk and sugar with no preservatives.

The flavours are coffee walnut, guava, kaju kismis, kesar pista, malai, mango, pineapple and many more.
